Obituary of Rosetta Geber

Rosetta Geber of Hastings-On-Hudson, N.Y., passed away on Friday, January 12, 2024, at age 82. A lifelong Westchester County resident, Rosetta was born on May 20, 1941 and grew up in Larchmont, N.Y., where she graduated from Mamaroneck High School. She went on to attend The Ohio State University and later earned her bachelor’s degree from Mercy College.

Rosetta was well-known in her community for her work with The Mental Health Association of Westchester, where she devoted her time as an advocate for a variety of Westchester youths. She was also an active member of Temple Beth Shalom in Hastings.

Perhaps what Rosetta will most be remembered for is her love of penguins. Roughly 45 years ago, while on vacation, Rosetta accidentally surprised a penguin with her flash photography. What started as a joke, with family and friends gifting Rosetta penguin accessories, became part of her identity, as Rosetta eventually styled her home with everything from penguin statuettes to penguin coffee table books to penguin artwork. Her home was a taste of Antarctica in New York.

Rosetta will be remembered as a loving mother to Jacqueline Eisenband (Michael) and David Geber (Diane), as well as a dear grandmother to Jeffrey (Alyson) and Corey.
